For Vadym, the most frightening days were the first days of the war – when uncertainty and a silence that was more terrifying than explosions prevailed. When the connection with his relatives who found themselves in the occupied territory was lost, and his heart clenched from helplessness. Yet, despite personal pain, he continued to fulfill his main mission – preserving museum exhibits, part of UNESCO’s cultural heritage. Everything was successfully saved, and already in May 2022 the museum reopened its doors to visitors. During this time, Vadym learned to live in the new reality, but he admits with bitterness – in the fourth year of the war, even the terrible becomes routine. Yet he does not lose faith: in peace, in meeting his loved ones, in a bright future without war.
